Pavilion Design

This page mainly contains the studies that I am doing for my graduation project.

Part 1
Functional analysis

Main functions are;
1-Book Market
2-Exhibition
3-Extension

1-Book Market (Existing)
This function takes place in the site 2 days a week.
The responsible workers come early in the morning and assemble the,
a-Market tables
b-Metal structures for the roof
c-Membrane
and they disassemble the pieces when the activity is over.

Additional information;

-The existing market structures cover the top of the goods and just give a 50cm cover for the customer and   150cm for the vendor. The circulation basically is not covered.
-The tables are between 3-5m.
-The area needed for one unit is 9-15m2
-The goods are transferred from trucks or cars parked besides the market tent.

The organization of the market units in Lange Voorhout is always linear.

Pavilion design for book market;
Main features of the pavilion:

1-Easy assembly/dis-assembly
2-Covers the whole circulation and the tables
3-Wide openings for visual connection and transfer of the goods
4-Adjustable organizational schema

Size of the pavilion is related to the size of the existing market units in area.
Dimensions of the pavilion are related to the structural constraints
Proportions of the pavilion are related to the function and human comfort

Size of the Pavilions;

Dimension;
-The main constraint is keeping the longest edge of the triangle or the longest span of the pavilion between 8-10m.
-8-10m max. span is the limit for an inflatable structure in order to prevent the design from getting bulky.
-An 8m spanning arc's thickness  is 20cm in section.
